Middlesmoor is a hilltop village perched on the end of a ridge overlooking Nidderdale with fine views extending Gouthwaite Reservoir. Its 1864 church occupies a commanding position in front of the village at the top of the hill and can be seen for miles around. The village has cobbled streets and stone cottages and with its lofty position at the head of the Dale is one of the most picturesque in the Dales area.
Getting around the Yorkshire Dales is quick and convenient with the towns and villages located so close together. You can use the Leeds-Morecambe line and the famous Leeds-Settle-Carlisle line which give fantastic access to the Dales on one of the most spectacular train journeys in England.
Enjoy the beautiful countryside as you cross valleys, rise up over hills and wind round the country roads.
You can take the number 156, Little White Bus from Bainbridge, through Hawes and onto Gayle. In the opposite direction you can enjoy the drama of Aysgarth Falls and travel through to Leyburn at the heart of Wensleydale.
Guests have access to the full property. The keys to the property are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.
There is private parking available on the driveway of the property for 2 cars.
Nice but not worth the hassle.
The property itself is a lovely new build and nicely decorated. It’s in a nice location in the middle of the hills - take food as there are no shops nearby.
However the company that look after it, although supposedly a family run business, were really not great. Response time was fast but you spoke to a different person every time and so I rarely got the answer to my questions.
You need to complete a verification for insurance purposes which requires you sending photo ID (which isn’t mentioned on the listing) but the app didn’t work so I had to do it all manually and send by email. Took half an hour to find the actual place as all the locations that were sent were completely wrong and the person I rang couldn’t tell me either. We only found it because a local helped us.
We had issues with cleanliness (which during covid is pretty unacceptable, especially when they are claiming that extra cleaning measures are in place) and after much backing and forthing via different contact methods we were granted a refund of the cleaning fee, although that took nearly two weeks to be sorted because, again, I was speaking to about three different people. For the sake of our two night stay, just too much hassle and not the luxury experience that is advertised.
