Wensleydale
The beautiful valley of Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales is home to charming villages, pretty castles, huge waterfalls and breathtaking scenery. The perfect place for exploring the great outdoors, you’ll always find more to uncover.
Wensleydale has a very distinct appearance as its wide open valley is peppered with softly rounded hills left by retreating glaciers. Water is a hugely important feature within the landscape, with the River Ure cutting right through the moorland. If you’re looking for somewhere spectacular, head to Hardraw Force which is the highest single-drop waterfall in England. Another beauty spot is the stepped Aysgarth Falls. If you’d like to take a dip in the water, we’d recommend Semer Water which is the largest natural lake in the Yorkshire Dales. You’ll also find anglers, canoeists and sailors here.
Famous for Wensleydale Cheese, you’ve got to visit the Wensleydale Creamery! Perfect for everyone, you can enjoy an interactive family experience including cheese-making demonstrations and a full tour of the museum, as well as sampling lots of different cheeses.
